Southwest Airlines Heartbeat

HeartBeat is an integrated system of music and educational entertainment employed during the passenger boarding experience on a Southwest Airlines flight. Born out of a 2-day Rapid Innovation Workshop, HeartBeat is designed simply to get passengers boarded faster. This creates a faster "turn", getting the plane back in the air faster–where it is profitable. At each boarding gate, flight attendants will have the "TurnTable" app on a tablet device. It controls a sound system playing up-beat, energetic music as well visual system that displays video and still messaging with instructions on how to best board an airplane—for example, stowing your carry-on "wheels-out" in order to maximize space in the overhead bin. In addition to overall ideation, my role on the team was to quickly create compelling visuals for a presentation to Southwestern Airlines officials. Heartbeat was the winning idea out of three teams tasked with the same problem statement and is currently in development internally at Southwest.
